Dear HJ and Toma,
instead of a postcard, we are sending you a few pictures from last two weeks. They are very monotone - just skiing and icefishing. But the sky was providing great show! Hope you will enjoy that and see you soon, here or there!
This lake near Trondheim is called Gaustadvatnet. In this early morning the sky was violent. It was probably my last icefishing trip with Albert and Emilio and we got no fish there. |
For Xmas, we moved more "south" and inland, into a simple cabin Midtvangen near Tynset and Savalen lake. |
We are sure you know Tynset, as it is the place with the world's largest kick sled. And many people use regular size ones in the streets of this vibrant town! |
In the mornings, I was drilling holes into the ice on Savalen lake, that is called "arctic char (røya in Norwegian) eldorado". Icefishing is very interesting activity and I am sure, you would love it. |
I was getting several fish every day, so we grilled a lot. Which is great, because you do not have to clean dishes, which is too much work in a cabin without water. |
In the afternoon (these are still very short now - it is getting dark around 15:30) we were discovering cross-country skiing possibilities in the region. |
Everything was nicely frozen, as it was minus 15. |
After 5 days, we drove back to rainy Trondheim. Our next destination was supposed to be Sweden, but because of very bad weather forecast we headed south again, into Alvdal. We found an amazing cabin there. This is the view from its door. It was cabin deluxe, as the dry toilet was inside. |
The daily routine was classical - icefishing in the morning, skiing in the afternoon, eating and reading in the evening. |
As I have already written, I am sure you would love that activity. It is very meditative. |
And sometimes you got a beautifull fish - this one is my personal røya record (about 1,5kg) |
Next day was great as well... |
so we had several good dinners (with red Spanish wine, sorry!) |
The landscape around was just magnificant |
and the sky went crazy some evenings... |
So that is all for now, have a great year 2020, cheers and see you soon! P+B |
